Dr. Leuty's Research Interests
Overall I am interested in career choice and development in both adult and college student populations. My research is focused on the importance of the match between individuals and their jobs and how this relates to both positive and negative outcomes. Specifically, I consider variables such as one's work values, interests, or personality may or may not be a good fit with the career they are pursing or in the job they already have. Additional research interests include: measure development and career counseling assessment and intervention. Particular populations or demographic factors that I have interest in incorporating in my research include: millennials and other generational groups, first-generation college students, women, social class and socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation/identity. Current projects: The Counseling Psychology program at USM is highly collaborative. Most faculty find ways to incorporate our shared interests and expertise on projects, particularly when there are students interested in such collaborations. Currently, I have an ongoing collaboration with Dr. Emily Yowell, a project exploring the efficacy of a career counseling group intervention that is part of our Career Counseling Specialty Clinic in our department clinic, the Behavioral Health Clinic. Dr. Ashley Batastini and I are collaborating on a project on employment outcomes with individuals involved in community corrections. |
