About Me
I am a Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, where I also serve as the Director of our university Center for Faculty Development. I earned my doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota and earned my bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Missouri-- M-I-Z
I am foremost a counseling psychologist, but also describe myself as a vocational psychologist, as my research is focused on career development, assessment, and career outcomes. I am also interested in career development issues for marginalized groups, such as individuals identifying as LGBTQ + and first generational college students. My theoretical orientation is primarily cognitive-behavioral and behavioral, but I appreciate aspects of other theories, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Interpersonal.
Personal Interests:
I love sweets (anything with chocolate), good company (which often includes my husband and two sons), and good tv (Who doesn't love some Friends or Shameless? And can we talk about the psychological effects from playing Squid Games!?).
